The can says its trans fat free. It says it has butter flavor added. Is this stuff vegan?

Thanks for the ideas below. I'm going to make a tomato and roasted garlic bread and will be looking for a spanish sherry wine.

Crisco IS vegan. I see from their website that they offer a0-trans-fat shortening (called Crisco 0 Grams Trans Fat Per Serving All-Vegetable Shortening, but I don't see the butter-flavor variety as trans-fat free on their website.

As I looked at the butter flavor can again (my mom gave it to me) it doesn't say trans fat free - I confused it with the stuff I saw on the shelf at the grocery store. Thanks for the info - I didn't think about checking CRISCO website. It's good to know that the trans fat free stuff is vegan - have you ever tried to use it for cookies? I like earth balance for cookies for the family in small batches, but need something a little less costly for larger bakings and better than the cheapest soy margarines.

I did use it years ago for Christmas cookies and it worked well. maybe you could mix the trans-fat-free unflavored Crisco with Earth Balance for better flavor? maybe 3/4 Crisco and 1/4 EB?

Just so you know the "0 trans fat" crisco is still made of hydrogenated fats. They claim it's fully hydrogenated so there are no trans fats, but realistically it's probably just that the amount of trans fats fits the legal definition of trans fat-free -- probably less than .1 grams per serving. I still don't trust the stuff.
