I've been a vegetarian for a little over a year now, and have been a vegan for about 6 months. That's not a long time but I should have lost some weight, instead I have put on weight.

I'm thinking about seeing a dietician, nutritionist or someone in the medical field who can help guide me by giving me some tips / meal plans, etc.

Does anyone know who I should make an appointment with ? I don't have health insurance right now, so I have to pay for it anyway, so getting a referal from a doctor is not an option.

This doesn't answer your question directly, but maybe this info will help.

I just signed my son up for weight watchers ONLINE to help him understand how to balance the foods he can eat (and to lose a few pounds). It has vegetarian food idea options, point calaculators to make it very easy to keep track. With vegan replacements and even Bryanna's new program that lists points - EASY!. This tool with all of it's helps is only $5 month for the first three and $4 something after that.

Thanks for your suggestion, Dori. I didn't know about WW having an online program like that. I'll check it out!

Val,

Yes it does. Check out www.weightwatchers.com. That's how I found Bryanna, from the discussion in their veggie forum about what cookbook to buy. I was led to the Fiber for Life cookbook. I was in it but not anymore.

Another thing I like about it is that I can type in my own personal recipes and it will kick back points per serving OR I can even type in calorie information (which all of Bryanna's cookbooks have) and it will give points. We love the restaurant guide - we can know ahead of time what we will order and how many points it has, including at a chain buffet!
