I haven't been cooking Asian food lately but finally went to 99 Ranch market and bought that vegetarian lamb you recommended. It was delish! I made your vegetarian lamb curry last night, from your recipe. We haven't eaten it yet since it is for tonight's dinner. I will make the paratha to go with it tonight. But the curry is delicious when I tasted it!
This vegetarian lamb is made from shiitake mushroom stems. If you see the shape of it you'll see that it is like a mushroom stem.
I also bought Smooth & Chewy Tofu from the same brand, Kimbo, right next to the lamb. It is very good and taste like 'chicken'. It is actually not tofu but seitan because the ingredient is Wheat Protein, corn oil, and salt.

Debbie, I'm glad you found the vegetarian lamb. I'm going to try the Smooth & Chewy Tofu the next time I go to 99 Ranch. I think I saw that when I bought the veg lamb again about a week ago.
I also got another item "Mushroom Cake" (similar to "fish cake" used in chinese cooking). It too has a very meaty texture. John loved it. I'm pretty sure that too is by Kimbo and it's about 6 " x 2". Have you tried it ?
Good luck with the paratha tonight! ---------- Val

Val,
No, I didn't see the 'Mushroom Cake' but will look for it later. I think Kimbo is a good brand. I saw Kimbo 'fish' fillet too but didn't check if it is vegan or not.
Thanks so much for telling me about this brand.
I am going to a family wedding tomorrow in Georgia Coast for a week. St. Simons Island to be exact. We have searched the Internet and think that food would be a problem for us. In the south, everyone put pork/bacon grease in their vegetable dishes. I will bring some dry food with us. :-)
