if I may?
Hi,Bryanna :)

Do you know how I can find out the fat ratio of flax seeds to flax oil?
I've found differing nutritional data on the internet (I assume by brand -- does it matter?) I wonder if the info varies from crop to crop or maybe just some seeds grown in certain areas, methods, etc., are better than others...

Anyway, do you know how I would replace 1 TB seeds for oil? In other words, I want to replace 1 TB oil with seeds, how much seed would I use to make it equal to 1 TB oil? Is it double the seed? Triple? An exact amount? Etc.

Also, I read one site that said golden is more nutritious than brown -- is this true? I definitely like the taste better (milder and more nutty), and use golden, myself; but I'd like to know. I consume oil daily as a supplement as well, which I believe is golden flax oil, combined with a couple other oils (Barlean's women's formula, "Essential Woman.")

Also, is hemp equal to, less than, or better than flax? It seems flax is promoted as the only source of ALL we need -- is this true? Is hemp lacking in any area that flax covers?

Thanks!
Bryanna

Hemp oil has a balance of omega 6's to omega 3's, and flax oil has more omega 3. Now, omega 3's are harder to get in the diet-- omega 6's are easy to get, so I say go with flax oil.

Dr. Andrew Weil told me that 1 T. flax seed is equal to 1 tsp. flax oil. As for the golden flax, I have heard that it is a little LESS nutritious than the brown, but, there can't be much difference, so I wouldn't worry about it-- use the golden where color and taste matter and the brown where they don't, is my advice.
