Bryanna, I finally got around to making your corn dhokla last night. I had to do an internet search to figure out what you meant by "peaches and cream" corn. It's apparently a Canadian phrase for both white and yellow corn mixed together. I found some here in Wisconsin called "petite white and golden" that appeared to be the same thing.

Anyway, the dhokla was wonderful! I used a round 8" cake pan inside my bamboo steamer and it worked really well.

I also made the Gujarti stewed tomatoes. I was a bit skeptical at first since I'm not much of a canned tomato fan (and it's hardly the season for fresh!), but the flavor was incredible. I'm so glad I tried them both!

Thanks for the terrific recipes! Catherine

I have been wanting to try the corn dohkla too. Sounds good! The Gujarati stewed tomatoes sounds good too.

Talking about bamboo steamers, do you like yours? I like bamboo steamers since the water doesn't drip onto the steamed food when is steaming. But my bamboo steamer usually doesn't last very long. In 1 year or 2, it will fall apart. The rim part (the round) or the edges starts to peel away. I guess the glue or something that make it stick together is gone. I just bought a new one from the Asian market and used it only once. The bottom part where you put the food on was warping. I was frustrated with it since I paid $15 for it. I guess the quality is not good anymore. It is not like my wok which I have had for years.

Ctherine-- I'm so glad you enjoyed the dohkla and tomatoes! Peaches and Cream corn is a very common "sweet" variety of corn here. Any young, sweet corn would do fine.
