we just got the food processor attachment for the bosch mixer. i've never had a fp before but was quite surprised to discover it had a safety feature, which means when the bowl is on the base, you can not remove the lid from the bowl (you know, like to scrape down ingredients). have to remove bowl from base, then remove lid ...
are "all" food processors like this?

I have a Bosch, but not the food processor attachment. I have a Braun food processor, and you don't have to remove the container from the base to take off the lid. I have also used KitchenAid and Cuisinart processors before, and pretty sure they're the same as the Braun in that respect.

ok, that confirms my initial opinion - having to take bowl off to scrape down ingredients is a real pain in the you-know-what and certainly not a common feature! thanks.
now, do I want to send it back or try to remove the safety or just remain annoyed ... hmmmm.
