When a recipe calls for chocolate liquer, hazelnut liquer, or cocoa liquer, where do you buy these? What do they look like and whether they are vegan? Can anyone recommend a brand and a site to look for it?

Thanks.

They are generally vegan, unless they contain cream (like Irish Cream). You can look up the one you want to use by name on this list:

Vegan-suitable are:
Bacchus Scnapps (all kinds of fruit flavors)
Chartreuse
Cointreau
Frangelico
Galliano
Grand marnier
Kahlua
Lena Banana Liqueur
Midori(Midori Melon Liqueur, Midori Citrus, Midori &
Lemonade)
Mohala Mango Liqueur
Opal Nera (Black Sambuca)
Tia Maria

According to other vegan lists, you can also use:

Amaretto
Alain Verdet creme de framboise, creme de peche, and creme de mure (blackberry
Liqueurs are available at any liquor outlet.

You can also make your own liqueurs. It's easy-- I've done it a few times myself. If you need them, you can get vegan, kosher and organic flavor extracts here:

Thanks Bryanna! I am not familiar with liqueurs. I didn't think I want to make it myself but thanks for the list to check if there is a cream in it or not. I guess I will have to look at their ingredients list when buying.
