Hi Bryanna,
I found a simple recipe for granola bars on the Whole Foods Market website. It includes quick oats, but I was wondering if I could use rolled oats. What is the difference between them? Can I substitute them with no problem? I am thinking that rolled oats are healthier than quick oats - is that true?
Thanks for your help.

Old fashioned rolled oats are made by steaming oat groats (kernels) and flattening them with a roller. Quick-cooking rolled oats are made by flattening pre-cut groats (kernels). They cook in about 5 minutes. They are not to be confused with instant oatmeal, which are very thin, precooked oats that need only be mixed with a hot liquid-- they don't actually need cooking. (They usually have flavorings and salt added.)
Sometimes rolled oats and quick oats are interchangable, sometimes not, so you can experiment with your recipe.
Nutrition (from Quaker Oats)-- they are pretty much tghe same:
