Have any of you heard of Infra Red Speed Cooking oven?

I am investigating to buy this:
Black&Decker Infra Red Oven

The last appliance I got for my b-day gift was the Zojirushi Induction Cooking rice cooker. I LOVE IT!

I can't stop buying applicances...ha.... I need a toaster oven so I am thinking that this will be a good buy. What do you think?

Debbie,

I've never heard of this technology!! Sounds neat! I did find this pdf version of the item's user manual. Looks like there will be a bit of a learning curve in using it (one does not bake by time OR temperature). They have alot of pre-defined items, but it makes me wonder how one would set a vegan item.

If you do get it, do post back here after you've used it for a while to let us know how it works and how you like it (especially from a vegan's perspective).

Thanks Brenda! That is an interesting concept. Thanks for the manual. It helps. I am sure there is a way to overwrite and to decide the length of the cooking.

Too bad, no one has heard of it. I wanted to know their opinions. :-) I may just have to buy it and try it myself. My purpose is to cook low fat and to make the food crispy such as breast of tofu, tempeh bacon, sweet potato or potato fries, soy curl tenders, etc. etc.

Debbie,

Yes, I noticed in the manual that one can manually enter bake/cook times. Hey! We'd LOVE it if you bought one and then reported back to us (Buying new kitchen things: it's a tough job but SOMEBODY'S got to do it {[grin!]} !!)

Ok ok! You convinced me...he he.... Yeah...like you twisted my arm to buy a new appliance.

I will buy it and will report back.

It's a tough week for me in So Cal this week. We are not directly affected by the fire although it is close (about 10 miles away). But the smoke, ashes, and debris are so much. My eyes and nose are watery most of the time.

Oh Debbie ... I forgot that's the area where you live. The devastation I am seeing on the TV and reading about in the news is almost too much to bear. I don't know how to grasp the enormity of the disaster.
