"I tried to make this Roly Poly from the new newsletter. The recipe didn't say where to put the cinnamon. Is it in the dough, the apple, or the syrup. I put it into the syrup. Also, It seems that there is not enough dough. Is the recipe correct? I was very thin after I spread it with the roller. The pastry was also kind of hard (I used whole wheat pastry flour) and didn't rise much. In your picture, it seems that the pastry puffed up."

Here's my answer:

"Hi, Debbie! Sorry about the cinnamon! It gets sprinkled on the apples. I will correct this and upload the file again.

It is a thin dough and sometimes seems kind of "raggedy", but I like the recipe because it's no fat, whole wheat, and simple but good, and the syrup (in my experience) plumps it up. Did you use a larger pan than I called for? That could cause more evaporation and less "plumping".

Otherwise, I don't know why they didn't rexpand more. There is enough baking powder in it for 1 cup of flour. Maybe leaving them to soak in the syrup for a while before serving would help, too,

Cheers, Bryanna"
