just a quick question about the tvp slices you use...i have the ones that say soy protein apex japan...the ones on found on this site: http://vegieworld.com/../s004/s004.htm How are they? I get them in the local asian market, and i know you have mentioned not to use a certain kind that tastes like dog food or something of that nature. thanks in advance.

These look like the kind I get in Vancouver from an Asian store. the 'dogfood' kind were some i got from a 7th Day Adventist source some years ago-- they were chunks. So these should be fine. ---------- "To look like a goddess, eat like a peasant." Karen Andres

If they are thin slices, they are great. I use them all the time for korean bbq or pho. I simmer them in boiling water for 15 to 20 minutes or until soft. Soaking them in hot water is not good enough and still too hard. I sometimes pressure cook it for a few minutes. Then, they become really soft.
I also buy them in Asian markets and never buy on-line.
