I don't know if anyone is looking for a Cuisinart Griddler (griddle/panini press), but I noticed today that Costco is carrying them. I think it was about $40 cheaper at Costco (something like $85 compared to $130).

Thanks, Julie! We're going down to a Costco this weekend-- don't know if it's the same bargain in Canada, but I'll check! ---------- "To look like a goddess, eat like a peasant." Karen Andres

Oh, shoot! My husband bought it for $120 something including tax and shipping.
This is a good appliance everyone! I am using it often. For pancakes or the griddle option, it's not warm enough in my opinion, I really have to heat it for a long long time before I like the temp. But I like the panini/grill or bbq option which is really really hot. I haven't tried using the grill option for pancakes yet.

It was the best price that I've seen it for so far. I LOVE it for paninis!
Bryanna, that's a nice Costco in Nanaimo. We couldn't help ourselves as we drove past it this summer. We had to stop and take a look. The merchandise seemed almost identical to what we have at our local Costco (including the food). Is that where you got your new blender? I think that I saw it there yesterday as well.
Happy shopping!

Yes, very good for Panini! I count it that I got my money back by making 15-20 panini sandwiches since the Corner Bakery is charging $8 per panini.

If you shop at Save-On Foods and collect their points, you can get the Griddler for $79 (Canadian) plus, I think, 14,000 points. That's how I talked myself into getting one, as I wasn't using the points for anything else anyways. It was easily the best price I could find, online or off.
And yes, I like the press but find the temp way too low for pancakes. Wholewheat ones, anyways .. haven't tried anything lighter. Still, a nice solid machine that at $79 I don't feel cheated by. For anyone wondering (I know I was) it does a nice grilling job on sliced eggplant and zucchini. Peppers, too, though they tend to try and escape. :-)
I'm actually flirting with the idea of using it tonight to make Bryanna's catalan skewers. We'll see how it goes.

Would those that have this machine and love it mind posting their favorite sandwich recipes or other recipes they use it for? I'm seriously thinking about getting one at my Costco here.

Hi Starla,
I don't use a particular recipe for panini, but I stuff the sandwiches with everything from tempeh, veggie bacon, vegetables, breaded Breast Of Tofu, assorted veggies, peanut sauce (not necessarily all together though), etc... and then I grill the sandwiches (panini) on the Griddler. I've also made chocolate paninis for dessert which are fantastic (just chopped dark chocolate and a smear of nut butter). We've also done tofu skewers on it as well as grilling veggies. Everything has always worked perfectly!
Hope this helps. Maybe Debbie has some recipes to post.

Thanks. I thought maybe someone had a combination of ingredients for a sandwich that they used over and over because it works well for the machine. I guess I'm not that creative and need more specifics. The tofu skewers are a GREAT idea!

Hi Starla,
I did a blog back in April about panini and featured 3 different kind of panini sandwiches. I took a picture of the griller too. It is now in archive, April 20, 2006 entry, so you need to scroll down:

Thanks Debbie. I'll check out your posts and put them together with Bryannas for a nice little "Pannini File". Cannot wait to have a warm grilled sandwich on these fall days.

Starla,
I think that some of Bryanna's recipes for goat cheese spreads and pates would be great on the paninis too. My husband absolutely LOVES Bryanna's quick feta on his paninis, as well as fresh basil and tomato.

Julie: The "feta" with basil and tomato sounds so good. Kinda like a Greek Salad in a sandwich. Mmmm. Thanks for all the ideas.
