Hi, Bryanna, and Everyone!

How can I cut paper to line a square baking pan with sides?
I know to trace the bottom and cut to get just the bottom of the pan covered; but how to cut it to get up the sides all in one piece?

I have seen this done by folding and cutting for round pans -- is there a way to achieve this with square? I want to avoid cut sides, where ingredients will seep out into the pan...am I being clear?

Anyone know?!! I can't find anything online, but I'm not great at knowing how to find certain things. I'm not sure, but I think I saw this done on a cooking show once!

Thanks!

Hi Linda,

I usually do a square for the bottom and cut a long strip for the sides. Say, for instance, the sides are 2-inches high, then I cut a long 2-inch strip (or several shorter strips). Alternately I do a long rectangle that covers the bottom and 2 sides of pan (doing 2 strips for the remaining sides). The pan grease will hold the paper to the sides of the pan. Grease the paper again once you've lined the pan.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for responding, Julie :)

That is similar to what I have done in the past. I thought there was a way to use just one whole piece of paper, if it were cut right. Maybe not! But thanks for letting me know how you do it.

Linda,

There is another way using one whole piece. You press a whole piece of parchment into your pan, pleating at the edges. You can probably also trace the bottom of your pan onto a larger piece of parchment and make a cut with scissors from the edges of the paper to the the 4 corner edges of your pan tracing. Then press into pan and trim any necessary pieces or edges.

Does this make sense? I've tried it before and it does work.

Thanks, Julie! I think that's probably the only way to do it. Perhaps I was mistaken in thinking I had seen it done on tv...

I've seen pre-cut parchment at some cooking stores, but I think those are round.
