Bryanna,
Your "Corned Beef" recipe on your blog looks so good. Penzeys Spices has a 15 spice Corned Beef mix that might be worth a try. www.penzeys.com

I just came back for visiting Penzey Spice Store! We had to drive 36 miles to the store but it was worth it. The store just opened for 7 weeks. It was a wonderful experience to be able to smell each spice (they let you smell each spice sample). We spent more than 1 hour until our noses are tired. :-)
I bought quite a few spices that are intriguing including Sate Seasoning (to make Indonesian sate), Smoked Spanish Paprika(don't know what to use it for yet but sure smell wonderful), Ground Chipotle Peppers(didn't know that I can buy it in a powder form), Pure Wasabi, and Natural Wasabi with Pure Wasabi in it (my husband's choice to make sushi). Of course, I also bought other usual spices.
The only thing I didn't agree with them was that they are selling dried lemon grass but it was the dried grass parts that they are selling and not the stalks. I don't usually use the grass parts and always use the stalks(the inner part of the stalk)for cooking. I usually throw away the grass (top part)since the grass is not as potent as the stalk.
I had ordered from them on-line before but I like it better visiting the store. Even my husband was enjoying it too.
Bryanna, there is a Penzey Store at Grand Rapids, MI, may be you want to check it out!

Debbie,
I noticed that there was a Penzey's in Grand Rapids. I will be going to the Vegan Conference there, and am not leaving until Wed. AM. A stop at Penzey's is definitely on the agenda!!
Your description of your visit to a store has me even more excited!! I remember the first time I visited a Williams Sonoma store!! Just as much fun!

I found a Penzey's in Des MOines (about 1 1 /2 hour drive) right before Christmas. I love smelling all thespices also. SHALLOT PEPPER, my personal veggie sprinkle favorite. For a fast dip into one spice jar, when I make sausage TVP I use the bratwurst, italian sausage, or Polish sausage spice mixes.
Bryanna I notoced you took the Corned Roast off your blog. I made mine in the crock pot last night and served for lunch. Love it!!!

Brenda,
Penzey Store is not as fancy as William Sonoma (at least the one in my area which just opened) but it was still fun to smell each spice. There is a spice I have never heard of: Chevril? The store is also small but still spent more than an hour. I also like the gift boxes and already plan and think about a Christmas gift to my in-laws.
I also found that the seasoning blend/mix (the ones Penzey mix several spices together) are more expensive than just a bottle of spice. There is one seasonings called Sunny Paris that I wanted to get but it was expensive. I guess we can make our own if we know the ratio of each spice and herb.

Debbie,
I have seen recipes for making tea using the green leaves of lemon grass. My cats absolutely LOVE to munch on those leaves. We eat the roots, they eat the green part. I always have plenty for the cats. They have their own garden with cat grass, bermuda grass, cat mint and catnip. We have four cats.

Debbie,
I got on Penzey's page and looked at the "Sunny Paris" mixture (what a cool name!!) Penzey's even mentioned that this mixture was so expensive they took it off their price list, but folks kept asking for it, so they resumed selling it!!
The only 2 mixtues from them I use (and use these all the time!!) is the Pasta Sprinkle and Sandwich Sprinkle!! YUM!!
