I am looking for any information about kitchen ware in the middle ages, esp bakery goods and what the peasant kitchen's looked like then. Would love some good book ideas or any info you might be able to guide me to.

Do you have a good library nearby? If you do, and they have a reference librarian or an "info tech" (information technician), they might be able to lead you to the right place.

Also, is there a SCA (Society for creative anachronism) chapter nearby? These folks take on medeival characters and act them out at their gatherings. They are very into being authentic about food, clothing, etc., and may be able to help you. (I have friends who belong to this.) Here is their main website;

Here are some resources from their page:

Thanks for all the link Bryanna... I have got a few books ordered interlibrary loan. I just thought I'd ask here also as I research and I am definitely checking out your generous listing of sites. I decided I was bored last September and booked a demonstration booth at a renassiance fair because I had such a fun day when I went.

DH built me a wooden booth that we will decorate to look like a renaissance kitchen. We decided our role would be agricultural peasants, who will be selling small dried mixes of foods that can be easily made at home ... grain and soup mixes along with a few and select baked goods. DH is building me a cart that would be common for a farmer to take goods to the market with for display. Our booth will be more for demonstration and fun than sales, but selling is fun so we will of course do that to.

We have a couple of months to work out the details. I find the research so fun that I would rather prepare for the fair than I would do schoolwork!
