I found some Jaggery (a type of unrefined, non-chemically treated sugar) at an Indian grocery store last week, and remember having it as a child when relatives returned home from India with it. I bought a bagful and it's yummy. My parents (who are visiting from Malaysia) have been using it in their coffee, and my Mom says that it can be used to replace sugar in pretty much any recipe.
It comes in several forms from huge 10+ pound blocks to little bite sized pieces, sold in plastic bags. It cost a little over $2 for a 2 pound bag. ---------- Val

Hi Val,
I have never heard of it. Maybe I will look for it in Indian stores near me.
