Hi Bryanna,

I am curious how do you calculate the My Points in your recipes? It is not from Living Cookbook software, right? I checked it and it doesn't have it.

I use WW points and it calculates it differently.

The Living Cookbook software does MyPoints. You go to "Tools" and then "options" and click "My Points" in the box that comes up. Here's what it says in their Help file:

"Many users have asked us to add Weight Watchers Point calculations to our software. While we can't legally add such a feature, we did add a point calculator to Living Cookbook. The MyPoints calculator can be customized to emulate virtually any point system based on calories, fat and fiber content.

On the Tools menu click Options.

Enter values for the Calorie, Fat Grams and Fiber Grams coefficients. Weight Watchers uses 50, 12, -5 and 0 respectively, but you could enter other values for other point systems.
Note In the United Kingdom Weight Watchers uses 0, 0, 70 and 4.

Click OK.
The MyPoints values will display at the bottom of the nutrition table for recipes and ingredients.

Thank you SO MUCH, Bryanna! I didn't even know about this feature. I guess I don't use Living Cookbook that much recently. You use it more than I do. I tried it and it worked.

I just don't have the time and recently didn't come up with recipes of my own. Although, I just entered a recipe of 'Beefy' Beer Stew into Living Cookbook to test nutritional facts and My Points. It is a stew of beefy seitan or neatballs cooked in non-alcoholic beer with brussel sprouts, potatoes, carrots, and onions.

So, do these points pretty much correspond to the WW ones?

The My Points are a little bit higher than the WW points from your newsletter.

From my Living Cookbook software, when I calculated the stew I entered myself, WW points = 6 and My points = 6.4. Then I calculated the 'Soy and Seitan Ham' and 'Beefy Seitan for Wellington', they both came up as 2 points and 3 points per serving, so perfectly matched. I entered and linked the ingredients by myself in my software.

But when I calculated and entered the 'Balkan-Style Slow Cooker Vegan "Chicken" Stew' into WW website (the nutri facts from the newsletter), the WW points came up with 5 points where the My Points from your newsletter is 6.9. I entered the nutri facts from the newsletter for 'Pomegranate-Glazed Soy and Seitan "Turkey" Roast' to WW website, WW points = 6 and the newsletter = 6.4.

So it is close enough but seems like WW points are always lower.

BTW, I got my 10 lbs. reward last night from WW. I am really happy that it really works.

I just checked the points for Pomegranate-Glazed Seitan Turkey and I have 5.1 points??? and the stew is 5.3 points. Wonder what we are doing differently? I set the MyPoints option to what the said were the WW values.

Yes, I have no clue. But the difference is not that much. It doesn't really matter for me. Besides I don't really count and keep track of points if using your recipes. I eat until I am satisfied. I only count points when I eat bread, nuts, desserts, and other stuff that is not in the Core list which I am allowed up to 35 points per week. That's why it is easy for me.
