I wanted to do something special for my DH birthday today and was inspired by the wonderful three sisters pizza.
I made the corny style crust and used 1 lb dough (Bryanna's recipe). Then I let it rise in the refrigerator for the afternoon. I rolled it out to fit a large 16 inch deep dish pizza pan, spread with a mixture of taco sauce and a small 4 oz can of chopped green chiles. I topped it with a 14.5 oz can of black beans, drained and rinsed. If I had corn I would have topped it with that also. Then I spread vegan mozzarella shreds on top of that and baked it convection on a stone at 450 for 15-18 minutes (This was one large pizza!). When it finished I topped it with finely shredded lettuce, mashed corn chips, and salsa. Yum! 8 slices + 4 people = one empty pan

Dori, What a great sounding pizza!! Thanks for sharing. I hope your husband loved it!
Your recipe reminds me of a recipe I make occasionally that uses black beans as the base (spread on top of the pizza crust). The beans are pureed in a food processor with cumin, olive oil, garlic, and hot sauce. Then top with whatever toppings you want, and then pour salsa over all.
But thinking about using Bryanna's three sisters crust REALLY would make it!! That flavor meshing beautifully w/ the black beans! GREAT!!

This recipe also works very well on top of a single whole wheat pita bread! I have had some of the most delish - simple personal "pizza's" using these wonderful little breads. ---------- "To cook is to create. And to create well...is an act of integrity, and faith." - author unknown
