I saw the So Soya Plus meat substitute information/advertisement in your site. I am interested to buy the strips/slices and have been looking for something like this to make bulgogi and other Chinese style cooking.
Are the so soya plus slices thin or thick? I tried several brand from the Chinese market and didn't like it. Sometimes they are too thick so they are chewey and tough. ---------- Debbie

They aren't really thin (maybe 3/8" thick), but they are really nice for stews and stir-fries. I like the texture alot. It gets nice and tender if prepared properly.
I get this very thin "beefy" textured soy protein in strips at West Best Vegetarian in Vancouver sometimes. It's great for pho. I'll try to find something like it online for you. ---------- "To look like a goddess, eat like a peasant." Karen Andres

Thanks,Bryanna. Would it be great for bulgogi and grill them in my indoor grill?

Yes! I used them for the bulgogi recipe! This looks like the same thing (this is a New York company-- seem to ship only to the US)! The West Best product is from Taiwan, as well: http://vegieworld.com/../s003/s003.htm
They ahave a thin Japanese chicken-style one as well: http://vegieworld.com/../s004/s004.htm
Here is another company (they ship to US and Canada):
This may be the same thing as the "beef" slices: http://vegecyber.com/cgi-bin/vege_item.cgi?detail=10377
This is "chicken" slices; http://vegecyber.com/cgi-bin/vege_item.cgi?detail=10222
For Canadians, you might want to contact West Best Vegetarian and see if they will ship:

Hi Bryanna,
Thanks for the info and links. I have visited the links. I was told by Au Lac restaurant owner that the Japanese brand of TVP slices is thin and the Taiwanese is thick. Like this one that you said it is Japanese: http://vegieworld.com/../s004/s004.htm
I think that's the one that I am looking for. This is great for bulgogi. Au Lac restaurant is using the thin ones.
Unfortunately, there is a minimum order of $50 at vegieworld.com. I have to buy at least 13 pkgs, oh my! I will ask the Au Lac owner if she can sell some of hers to me. But thank you anyway for your help I really appreciate it.

Hmmm, the Taiwanese ones look just like what I use and they are pretty thin, but, if you can get some from Au lac, then you'll know for sure! Good luck! ---------- "To look like a goddess, eat like a peasant." Karen Andres
